    In order to reduce casualties from road traffic accidents, strengthen the correction mechanism for repeat offenders, and promote road safety for the public, starting from June 30th of 2023, fines for driving without the driving license have been increased. Drivers are reminded to strictly adhere to all regulations to collectively maintain road safety.

    Under the new law, the penalty for driving without the license on a motorcycle starts at NT$12,000, while for driving without the license on a car, the penalty starts at NT$18,000. The maximum fine for driving without the license has been increased to NT$24,000. Repeat offenders with two or more offenses within 5 years will be fined NT$24,000. In the event of an accident causing serious injury or death, the vehicle may be confiscated. Those under 18 years old driving without the license must be accompanied by a guardian or legal representative for road traffic safety courses.
